Chalet La Clusaz - Summer

Chalet Sophia Summer

Chalet Sophiain La Clusaz stands on the hill-side overlooking the valley. Full of character and warmth, she offers all that is needed to make a fantastic summer or winter holiday.

Sitting just below the Col de Aravis, the Chalet offers magnificent views of the Etale mountain. It is comfortably furnished and sleeps 12.

The accommodation: The chalet has 5 twin bedrooms and 1 double, 3 bathrooms (one on each of the 3 floors). A sittingroom/dining room, kitchen and cave.

Annecy

La Clusaz is only approximately 30 minutes from beautiful Annecy. Here you will find both an old and new town. For the historian, the former is full of artifacts. The twelfth century old prison also called the Palais de l’Isle stands majestically amongst archaic shops and on a small island in the centre of the canal which runs straight through the old town buildings, turning this picturesque shoppers delight into a veritable Venice.

The newer Annecy over looks the cleanest lake in Europe where the colour is more like that of the Caribbean waters. Here there are beaches both hidden and easily viewed offering watersports or merely magnificent refreshing swimming in a lake with views that are stunning.

The Village

Well it’s a haven of activity, colour and charm. With something for everyone, from mini quads, to bumper boats, volley ball to trampolining, swimming with a stunning mountain view to luging down 800 metres of track, from ice skating to mini golf. It is endless. Remember though this is a beautiful authentic French mountain village with French markets at least once a week. Chocolatiers and restaurants, shops and French cafes that draw you in again and again for that café au lait or chocolate chaud. Horse and carts take you on a leisurely tour of this little world in a valley that is incredible.

Some of the extreme sports include:

VTT (downhill biking): Freeride dirt Downhill biking – exhilarating, extreme and challenging.

In the past few years, mountain bikes (VTT – Velo Tout Terrain) have become extremely popular, and there are many trails expressly for it. And ….. what a place to do it in!! location location location, it massively extenuates those highlighted words above.

Rafting. Well having rafted on the Azambezi and in Canada I was staggered to find the Haute Savoie rafting to be in what I considered a more beautiful setting. Down rapids, through narrow gorges, out into wide open expanses of water where you can float on your backs down stream. There is even a place where you can jump off a very high bridge….. or not!!!

Canyoning. It may seem mad but oh what fun! Sliding and jumping down waterfalls into canyons.

Paraponting. Want to try something new, tired of having your feet firmly on the ground, want to see things from higher up.

Via Ferrata. This is not your ‘normal’ climbing or merely hiking! This is a route on rock prepared for you. Various equipment remains permanently in place such as ladders, handrails, stairs and bridges etc. It is an awesome way to ascend in safety but with that dramatic sensation of emptiness and in a place that one would normally never go. If never done before, the views and the exhilaration one experiences not only creates one of those ‘forever’ memories but a thrilling sense of satisfaction.
